Facilitating Agri-business and Investment through Innovations in Processed Food Sector in the Lancang-Mekong Region
Food processing is a fast growing industry in ASEAN and especially in the Lancang-Mekong countries. The expansion of potential markets means that the sector is faced with a range of issues such as changing consumer tastes and preferences, emergence of new technology and innovative processes in production that promote sustainable and cost-effective ways, food security and safety, as well as environmental and livelihood impacts of the food processing industry.
At the same time, investment opportunities abound when it comes to setting up semi and moderately processed organic food and fisheries products in the Lancang-Mekong region, particularly as the LMC countries seek to integrate in regional and global value chains.
The 1st Lancang-Mekong Business Forum
The 1st Lancang-Mekong Business Forum highlights the importance of innovations in the food industry sector in the Lancang-Mekong region in enabling food and beverage producers to leverage on their distinct product offerings, increase their competitiveness and encourage broader investments.
This year’s Forum offers a platform for the sharing of innovations and good practices on new approaches to sustainable and inclusive innovations in the processed food industry, allow multiple sectors to work together, and explore investment plans for the industry in the LMC region.
